What Are We Doing?

What Are We Doing?

We hope that you will accept this as a sincere invitation to become better acquainted with us. Be assured that you will be our respected guest. You will not be embarrassed in any way, but merely asked to compare what you see and hear with the teaching of the Bible.

If you are searching for the Truth, you should know that our endeavor as a local body of Christ is to ever strive to be the local church the Lord intended in work, worship, and organization. We are convinced that we can be such, if everything we do and teach is the product of the seed – the Word of God; which, when planted in good and honest hearts, will produce exactly what God wants – a people who belong to the Lord. (Matthew 13:1-23; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 8:4-15)

Our worship is simple and based entirely on what is taught in the New Testament. All that we teach and practice must be by his authority and our worship must be in "spirit and truth." (Colossians 3:17; I Peter 4:11 and John 4:23-24) We will sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs together. You are invited to join with us in the singing of praises to God. (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16) Men in the congregation will lead the prayers. (I Timothy 2:1-8) Every Lord’s Day (each Sunday) we remember the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection in the Lord’s Supper. It is a simple service in which we partake of unleavened bread in memory of Christ’s body, and of the fruit of the vine in memory of his blood. (Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 22:15-20; I Corinthians 11:23-29)

Also, upon the first day of the week, the members of the Lord’s congregation will contribute to the Lord’s work. (I Corinthians 16:1-2) Your money will not be solicited, nor will you be expected to contribute, as our interest is in your spiritual welfare rather than in your money. The members of the church meeting in this place realize that the obligation of supporting this work is ours, not that of our visitors. However, if you as our honored guest choose to freely give to the work of the Lord, please be assured that your gift will be used only according to the teaching of Scripture. The monies collected in the contribution will only be used for the work and the worship of the Lord in the teaching of the gospel and in the work of benevolence for the members of the body of Christ.

The sermons and Bible classes will be Christ-centered and designed to teach, edify, and uplift all who are present. You are urged to take notes and compare what is taught with what the Bible says. There will be no attempt to teach anything mysterious – just simple Bible truths that have meaning and relevance for our lives. (I Peter 4:11; I Thessalonians 5:21; II Timothy 3:14-17) Those truths are able to save our souls, provided they are put into practice in the obedience of faith. (Hebrews 5:9)
